Derrick is a Partner at Awael AlBahrain with over 25 years of professional experience in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He leads the firm's specialist advisory practice, bringing deep local market knowledge across business valuations, management consultancy, corporate advisory and forensic accounting.
He is registered by the courts of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a licensed restructuring and liquidation trustee — a formal judicial appointment reflecting his professional standing, independence and integrity. In this capacity, he has supervised some of the most significant insolvency and liquidation proceedings in the Kingdom's recent history, managing insolvent estates, creditor processes and structured restructurings through to resolution.
Derrick also serves as a court-qualified accounting expert, having submitted expert reports relied upon in major commercial litigation across fraud matters, shareholder disputes and regulatory proceedings. His combination of judicial appointment, expert standing and deep transactional experience makes him one of the most distinctively qualified advisory practitioners in Bahrain.

Abbas is the Managing Partner of the Awael group with over 42 years of professional experience at the most senior levels of the accounting and advisory profession in Bahrain, the GCC and internationally. He served as Partner and Deputy Chairman at both PwC and BDO across Bahrain, Qatar and Oman before founding the Awael group in 2014.
He played a direct role in drafting the Corporate Governance Code of the Kingdom of Bahrain and currently chairs the Bahrain Accountants Association — the national professional body for the accounting profession in the Kingdom. He holds CPA certification and is licensed to practice in Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
